Hi, I’m Ian, a certified personal trainer and practitioner with CIMSPA (the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport & Physical Activity).
I set up Fit4Life Personal Training after many years in senior management, working for a large international company. My career change was inspired by the experience I had with a personal trainer who helped me to discover a love for health and fitness. Now my passion is all about helping others to do the same. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you!
I come with a wealth of life experience and understand first hand how hard it can be to find the time, energy and motivation for exercise. Modern lifestyles, work, family and other commitments can make many of us feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day!
And when we do get a little time for ourselves, more often than not we choose TV, a restaurant, drinks with friends, the cinema, a show, etc. for our leisure rather than something more active. At least, that was me beforehand.
Now, I still make time for all that; change doesn't mean abandoning everything we enjoy. But for me, that also includes regular exercise and ‘active leisure’ activities such as cycling, running, country walks, mountain climbing, etc.
None of us are getting any younger, but no matter how old we are, we can all get fitter.
I love helping my clients to achieve their goals and live healthy, active lives; now and longer term.
See my services page for more information on how I can help you.

CIMSPA is the professional development body for the UK’s sport, fitness and physical activity sector and recognised as the authoritative voice for the sector by government departments and key agencies such as Sport England and Public Health England.
In response to concerns about the variable quality of fitness staff “accredited” by other registers, CIMSPA has created a single “competency to practice” register for the sector. The quality of its members is guaranteed by ensuring they hold recognised qualifications delivered by CIMSPA-endorsed training providers and have maintained their competency through approved CPD.
